Greetings to Everyone at Bedford American Legion Post 113
After a long cold winter, it is a pleasure to resume normal activities. We had a very successful first chicken barbecue and we were fortunate to have mild temperatures and a lack of snow.
This year the Bedford American Legion will host the Memorial Day program. The service will be held at the courthouse and Veteran Grove on Monday, May 30th. We invite everyone to come out and honor those who sacrificed so much for this great nation.
The Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, June 14th. All are invited to attend this solemn and patriotic show of respect for the colors of our county.
As the current Commander, I would like to express my gratitude to those individuals that through their hard work and efforts make the Bedford American Legion Post 113 successful.
God bless the United States of America
Brad Imler, Post 113 Commander
Sons of the American Legion Squadron 113
Greetings,
I would like to thank those Son’s that have paid their dues and hope more will pay during the course of the coming months. We have had a good turnout of those that have remembered and we would like to continue towards 100% membership renewal for 2022.
The Son’s will be raffling off a 4 wheeler 4X4 with the winning ticket being drawn at the Legions Annual Picnic in August. If anyone would like to purchase tickets or sell tickets, please contact any officer of the SAL. All proceeds of the 4 wheeler raffle will be donated to the backpack programs for Everett, Bedford and Chestnut Ridge.
God Bless all the members and their families.
Mike Peifer, SAL Commander
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 113
Well, here we are for the next quarter of the year and where did the first one go. The birds are singing and the grass is slowly turning green, so get out and enjoy this beautiful land of ours. The next chicken BBQ is April 3 and then May 1.
All paid-up members are welcome to attend our meetings. They are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the main ballroom, come and support your unit. We have our poppy sales in May, our basket raffle at the annual picnic, and our bake sale in November/December. All money raised goes to veterans in need. If you know of a fundraiser you would like to see the auxiliary look into, please call me or attend a meeting so it can be brought up for discussion. If you know of a veteran or auxiliary member in need of financial assistance let a board member know, we are listed in the bulletin.
If you have an email address, sign up to have your newsletter come by email and help save on the cost of postage. Just send an email to legion113@embarqmail.com and in the subject line put “newsletter”.
So keep the faith and enjoy the coming warmer weather. Please feel free to call me at 814-977-0057 if you have any questions. Remember Everyone that is Deployed, RED, so wear your red on Fridays, till they all come home. Remember to thank a Veteran for their service, without them, we would not have the land of the free and home of the brave.
