GREETINGS TO EVERYONE AT BEDFORD AMERICAN LEGION
POST 113
Fellow Legion Members,
Where did 2022 go? December is here and Winter is just around the corner. Hope all had a not too scary Halloween, an enjoyable Veteran’s Day and an enjoyable time with Family and Friends over Thanksgiving.
I am glad to see more members making use of the club and taking advantage of the daily special and other amenities the club has to offer, but that means our employees are busier than ever, so please be patient. Our managers are trying and doing things that we hope will make things run more smoothly.
There has been an increase of patrons using the door buzzer for whatever reason. When people use the buzzer, our bartender’s are required to ask for identification, to check for paid dues, or to see if they are visitors from another Legion, etc, etc. This all takes time that could be used to service other patrons. If you are having problems with your key card working properly, or have lost your card, please let us know and we’ll do our best to fix the problem.
Just a reminder for everyone to check the legion calendar for upcoming events and activities. It would be nice to see more members attending events like Post Everlasting and the Americanism banquet’s, plus other events that are scheduled over the year.
Looking forward to 2023, I hope the leaders of this Great Nation with the help of God can get it back on track and headed in the right direction. I want to wish all of the members of Bedford American Legion Post 113, “Merry Christmas” and a safe, happy and prosperous “New Year”. God Bless America.
Bill Wertz, Post 113 Commander
SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION SQUADRON 113
Greetings,
Hello again everyone and happy new year. I hope everyone is well and had a good time with family and friends over the holidays. I would also like to thank everyone for all your support last year and hope you continue to do so this year as well. And last but certainly not least, anyone who has not yet renewed your membership please do so as soon as possible.
I would like to encourage all Squadron members to attend our monthly meeting which takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Members’ attendance and participation in the meetings ensures a healthy squadron that makes sound decisions and can fulfill all its duties.
Jerod Burkett
Commander, SAL Squadron 113
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT 113
Dear members of Unit 113,
As we welcome in the New Year, I want to say thank you to all of our members for your continued support. Our bake sale in December was another successful event. Just want to say thank you to all that helped and contributed, also to the community for supporting the veterans and the Auxiliary.
All paid up members are welcome to attend our meetings, they are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the main ball room, come and support your unit. The first Sunday in March will be the first chicken barbeque and as always, we need cakes. It takes 17 to 20 cakes each time and they are homemade cakes. So bake a cake and come help support the men and women of the Legion and Auxiliary. We have the Americanism Banquet the first Wednesday in April. We have some great entertainment already lined up for the event. We have our poppy sales in May, our basket raffle at the annual picnic in August and our bake/craft sale in December. All money raised goes to veterans or someone in need in the community. If you know of a veteran or auxiliary member in need of financial assistance let an Auxiliary board member know, we are listed in the bulletin.
If you have an email address, sign up to have your newsletter come by email and help save on the cost of postage. Just send an email to legion113@embarqmail.com and in the subject line put “newsletter”. I wish all of you the best health, wealth and happiness for the coming year. Please feel free to call me on my cell 814-977-0057 or my home 814-623-5903 if you have any questions. Remember all that are deployed, so wear your red on Friday’s, till they all come home. Remember to thank a Veteran for their service, without them, we would not have the land of the free and home of the brave.
Auxiliary President, Unit 113
